September - October Live Colony Examinations - Field Days - Prairie State Beekeepers
Prairie State Beekeepers Association will be conducting live colony examinations on designated Saturdays from 12 noon to 2 PM at the Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) - West Lake Nature Grove Apiary.
Bring the level of protective gear which makes you feel comfortable (veil at at minimum).
Clicking on the following address to the apiary will bring up a google map link. Access to the apiary is via Mischler Rd from West Lake Shore Drive.

Comparing the sugar roll vs. alcohol wash method of estimating varroa mite counts in beehives. Our goal is to determine which method is more accurate when checking the varroa mite load.

Prairie State Beekeepers will be having an Fall Wiener Roast outing at the Nipper Wildlife Sanctuary from 3 to 7 PM

Nipper Wildlife Sanctuary is located on Withers Road in Loami, Illinois. There are over 400 acres of trails and native Illinois prairies for people to tour. Over 300 acres are burned in the spring to rejuvenate the prairie.
