NASA Honey Bee FORAGE SOURCES by region Pollen Sources by Time of YearClick on the title or the picture for information on how to identify pollen sources by time of year. Also, in the Central Illinois area, alder, common witch hazel and hazel nut trees provide pollen during the winter.
If your bees were flying on a warm winter day and bringing back a cream to yellowish pollen it may be from one of those 3 types of trees. Early in the spring, if the bees have flying weather, they will bring back pollen from maple and willow trees. |
